Lookbook x Celeste Jacobs
Celeste reflects on this moment in time…
To explore LOOKBOOK’s theme – ‘design is more than meets the eye’ – we matched writer/editor/photographer/creative Celeste Jacobs with the Mirror O from award-winning multidisciplinary product design company Dokter and Misses. We asked Celeste to document her experience of living with the mirror in a series of images we turned into a lookbook.
My first impression, through touch, was that it had a good weight and an even rhythm to its shape. Sight confirmed how well-crafted and considered it is.
I love the Mirror O’s symmetry and precision – it even balances perfectly on a flat surface.
Living with it has been a joy. I love knowing that it means more to me than what you see because of the collaboration and creativity behind this project.
It complements my style because of its contrasts: An unfalteringly firm frame holds a delicate mirror.
For my lookbook, I wanted to showcase the reflective qualities of the mirror and how reality is based on perception. By looking at things differently (or changing our point of view), we’re able to shift our way of thinking and how we experience the world.
To me, “design is more than meets the eye” means an immersive sensory experience that can be felt in many ways.
