The Promenade in Sea Point is one of Skinny laMinx designer, Heather Moore’s, favourite places in Cape Town – because there is just so much to see. Waves and surfers, paragliders and windblown trees, pram pushers and cyclists, dogs and joggers all make up a passing parade that’s one of the enduring pleasures of Cape Town life, and one that’s free for all to enjoy.
Using this infamous space as inspiration, Skinny laMinx partnered with sustainable accessory brand, Wren Design, to create The Promenade Collection – a selection of wearable products inspired by three mid-century facades found along the Sea Point promenade.
Elements from the Fortuna apartment block, the terrazzo mural found at the top of the Bonne Esperansa building and the mosaic mural outside the Sea Point public bathrooms were used as inspiration for prints, colours and shapes. The collection’s products include two limited-edition scarves, a ceramic stacking vase made with Vorster & Braye, and a range of bags and accessories in collaboration with Wren Design.
